If you're here then you are most likely contemplating pursuing a graduate nurse practitioner program. Don't fret, we will review some strategies to choose the perfect fit for you.
So what does one look for in a graduate program and how do we even choose?
Personally, I meditated on my experience in undergrad and made a list of priorities for things I wanted in a graduate program. I then researched each program of interest and compared their offerings to my priority list.
Following you will find a list of what made my priority list.
In person vs online program
Travel distance to university
Success rates for achieving certification
Assistance with finding preceptors
Application deadlines
Admission requirements
Length of program
Cost of program
Program Coursework including preceptorship hours.

Having a list of priorities helps narrow down programs to apply. Applications can be expensive; therefore, figure out where you really want to go and apply only to those programs. This will definitely save you money and a headache.
I hope this has provided some guidance as you pursue a career advancement. Best of luck and feel free to reach out with any questions.
